Engr. Romeo Apolega, SSChE, FPIChE, dubbed the “Doctor of Laundry”, was named one of the 2026 Outstanding Chemical Engineers of the Philippines during the national chemical engineers conference in Baguio.

The Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers recognized Engr Apolega’s body of work covering five decades of professional contribution in the cleaning, sanitation, and laundry industry. During this period, he specialized in chemical processing and production, industrial laundry plant operations, and as of late, training and education for the Philippines’ future laundry and housekeeping industry leaders via Is It Clean.

Since 2024, Engr Romy’s pioneer program, The Laundry Masterclass, has delivered more than 50 masterclasses in 20 cities in the Philippines for 1,700 laundry business owners, executive housekeepers, hospital professionals, and suppliers.

The award adds to his list of recognitions which include the 2024 Service Award from the Professional Regulations Commission and 2024 Outstanding Chemical Engineer award given by PIChE Laguna Chapter.
